RESUMO:

It addresses reading within the public library, more specifically the creation of reading groups with the aim of boosting the collection and encouraging reading. The problem is based on the following question: how is it possible to build a group for reading mediation in the Municipal Public Library of Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará? The general objective is: to approach the practices of mediation of reading in public libraries, aiming at the proposal to create a Reading Group for the Municipal Public Library of Juazeiro do Norte, through strategies of dynamization and digital technologies, using as prototype the Reading Group 'Ciranda de Livros' from the Nobel Cariri Bookstore. The specific objectives are: to identify the potentialities of mediation of reading in the Municipal Public Library of Juazeiro do Norte, in order to create a reading group as a mechanism to stimulate reading and readers; verify the reading levels of the users of the Municipal Public Library of Juazeiro do Norte; to understand how the practices of mediation of reading occur in the Juazeiro do Norte Public Library and to propose the creation of a reading group for the community of users of the Municipal Public Library of Juazeiro do Norte. The methodology is characterized as exploratory objectives, regarding technical procedures in bibliographical, as the analysis is a qualitative research, using a structured questionnaire for data collection. Finally, it is hoped to contribute to the creation of a Reading Group for the Municipal Public Library of Juazeiro do Norte, which can stimulate, stimulate and enhance reading and readership of this Information Unit.
