INFORMATION MANAGEMENT IN THE COORDINATION OF THE LIBRARIANSHIP COURSE AT THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF CARIRI: AN ACADEMIC GUIDE FOR STUDENTS

Course Coordination. Informational flow. Decision-making

This research describes information management in the Librarianship course. To this end, it carries out exploratory-descriptive research, in the form of a case study, into the coordination of the Librarianship course at the Federal University of Cariri, in the state of Ceará. A literature review was used to introduce the topic and provide theoretical support for the descriptive research. For this stage, documentary research was carried out with the university's institutional regulations and the technique of participant observation, due to the fact that the researcher was inserted in the context of the research. To collect the data, a questionnaire was administered to a group of new students on the Librarianship course. The description of the information flow presented in this work is based on the following objectives: a) to describe the management of academic information at the Federal University of Cariri; b) to characterize the flow of academic information in the coordination of the UFCA Librarianship Course; and c) to understand the information needs and demands of incoming students. As a result of the data analysis, there was a need to improve the university's information channels. This improvement, in turn, involves incorporating novelties and experimenting with new knowledge, equipping individuals with the essential tools to revisit and redefine the notion of organizational management. Finally, it concludes that there is a need for an information product in the form of an academic guide to help library science students manage information pertinent to their daily university life and to support the decision-making process.
