SUMMARY:

This is an investigative research about the importance of prison libraries to achieve the resocialization of women deprived of liberty when acting in what concerns the realization of mediation projects of information and reading inside prisons, thus ensuring basic rights such as access to education, culture and information and walking in line with the 2030 Agenda. In this sense, it was based on the following problem: How do prison libraries contribute to the promotion of human rights and re-socialization of female prisoners? And also, how do the Sustainable Development Goals fit in with the possibilities of action of prison libraries? The general objective of this research is to analyze the conditions of women in prison and the relevance of prison libraries to achieve the resocialization of female prisoners, in order to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (4, 5, 10 and 16). As for the specific objectives, these are: a) ascertain the prison situation of women in Ceará (in general) and in the Public Jail of Crato (specific); b) reflect on the rights of women in prison, based on documents that highlight the treatment of these prisoners; c) highlight the importance of public policies aimed at this public to achieve successful resocialization through access to education, culture and information; d) to highlight the need for active prison libraries and how this initiative corroborates with the Agenda 2030 plan; e) to discuss the processes of elaboration and implementation of informational mediation projects in the scope of prison libraries. It is characterized by being exploratory and qualitative in nature and is defined as bibliographic, documental and field study, having as field of study the Public Prison of Crato - CE. For data collection, the techniques of document analysis and informal interviews with the female prisoners will be used. As for the final product, it was thought of elaborating a Mediation Plan with educational-cultural-informational orientations to be applied in prison libraries nationwide, in order to help professionals who intend to work in these units and make these spaces active and active regarding the resocialization of the assisted people. However, it is worth pointing out that the fight for the valorization of prison libraries needs to be unceasing so that these units may, through librarianship practices, democratize the access to information and transform the lives of many prisoners.
