SUMMARY:

With the advancement of science and technology, amid the worsening of global problems and challenges, information emerges as a strategic and fundamental resource. Faced with this new scenario, which considers the current stage of human knowledge as an Information Society, the field of information and communication was undoubtedly one of the most impacted. Therefore, the information management models that were being adopted, based on the custodial, patrimonialist and technical paradigm, are no longer able to meet current demands. In this context, the concept of information is renewed and studies and debates around the concept of mediation arise, which lay the foundations for new ways of using, producing, sharing and mastering information. The concept of mediation, and more precisely information mediation, can make an important contribution to information and communication science, as well as to librarianship and professionals working in libraries, as its application in this field necessarily leads to new reflections. on procedures, practices and use of information. In view of this, libraries are seen as fundamental institutions for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), contained in the 2030 Agenda, an important document published by the United Nations (UN) with a view to achieving sustainable development. The general objective of the research is to develop an Action Plan for the Multimedia Centers of the Regional Coordination for the Development of Education (CREDE 19), in order to guide the servers that work in these spaces. The specific objectives are to identify professionals working in libraries, discuss the concept of sustainable libraries, identify projects and actions developed, understand the 2030 Agenda proposal and seek strategies to involve and engage school libraries or multimedia centers in the advocacy movement and describe the educational environment of school libraries as spaces for the production, communication and use of information. This research will basically consist of two stages, with sequenced or concomitant activities and actions, developed through bibliographical, exploratory and descriptive research and field research. Field research will take place through scheduled formative meetings with teachers working in libraries or multimedia centers. An intervention proposal will also be presented that will support the elaboration of an Action Plan for the 2023-2024 biennium, to be carried out by multimedia centers with the support of school management. The data obtained will be outlined in accordance with the bibliographical and documental research, adopting a qualitative approach. It is hoped that, with the proposed action, professionals who work in school libraries or multimedia centers, the target of the research, will be able to understand their role, as well as the role that this school space has in the current context, which demands urgent and effective action. efficiently by all, with a view to achieving a fairer and more sustainable world.
