RESUMO:

The library is a place of informational and social inclusion, from the access to
information made available by the library, the user can acquire knowledge, thus being included
in society. However, it is necessary that information is accessible to everyone, enabling people
with disabilities to use their informational services. Therefore, it is necessary to do research with
regard to accessibility in school libraries. In this direction, this study seeks to present
theoretical-conceptual perceptions of information services and deficiencies, as well as
characteristics of school libraries within the scope of inclusion and accessibility. The issue to be
answered in this research presents the following question: Are information services in school
libraries in Juazeiro do Norte a search for people with disabilities? A survey has as its general
objective: to assist school libraries with the handling of informational collection services for
everyone. And the specific objectives were included in: addressing the theoretical-conceptual
perceptions and characteristics of libraries in the scope of inclusion and accessibility; select the
main information services that can be implemented in an accessible way for libraries. The
methodology is characterized as a bibliographical research, linked to the meaning of the
inductive method, with a qualitative approach, having as a research technique for data collection
the application of a questionnaire to municipal schools in Juazeiro do Norte, regarding the
purposes of this research, it is of the exploratory type. It is noteworthy that libraries must
promote actions that eliminate barriers that impede access to information and knowledge
generation. For this it is necessary that libraries make a plan to adapt their services to meet the
various users, thus making an informational environment accessible to everyone and,
consequently, satisfying their needs. With this in mind, an instruction manual was created in this
research, in which the main information services were selected: Home Loan, Collection
Consultation, Guided Visit, Computer Access Service, Reference Service and Utility
Information. Such services can be implemented in an accessible way in school libraries, with the
main objective of informational inclusion for people with disabilities.
