SUMMARY:

The appearance of photography revolutionized memory, starting to externalize and eternalize what was previously kept only in our mind. Photographic records began to document and transform memories into images that were previously just an oral or written narrative. Analogical photography, due to its greater credibility, was a great memory support. It played a great role in documenting the culture and social memory of a place. In this scientific paper, we look at the photography of Antonio Fiuza de Lima, photographer and master builder, who built and photographed a large part of the material heritage (public buildings and residences) in the city of Campos Sales, Ceará, in a period in which photography was still of little access to the population. With its analogical equipment, it produced a collection that today can be seen as a guardian of the city's memory. This is an exploratory-descriptive study with a qualitative approach, carried out through bibliographic and, mainly, documentary surveys, given that Fiuza's photographic collection is the main focus. Thus, the main objective of this paper is to produce a digital album with photos of his personal collection, to be made available in schools and in the Municipal Library of the city of Campos Sales.
