SUMMARY:

The present work focused on bullying associated with gender issues in schools, especially in public institutions. Fundamental measures need to be taken to reverse this situation of rejection, abandonment, prejudice and exclusion. The need then arises for trained professionals to address issues of educational and social inclusion. Considering that culture allows not only socialization, but also the debate of different knowledge within the school environment and certainly the appreciation of different customs and traditions, the general objective of this research was to analyze how the PPCs of library science courses at public universities - State and Federal - are addressing cultural diversity and the inclusion of deaf students. This research had the following specific objectives: to investigate how the practicality of multiculturalism can contribute to the process of confronting bullying as gender-based violence and how it can help with the inclusion of deaf students, to analyze how librarians are working on the inclusion of deaf students and transgender. For the methodological path, bibliographical research was adopted as it was developed based on already prepared materials available in various textual supports. It is also documentary research, since the Curricular Pedagogical Proposals of Library Science courses at public universities were analyzed. As for the objective, it is classified as exploratory, since the theme addressed here is quite relevant to the inclusive, dynamic and interactive educational context, and which sought information and not obtain static conclusions. The classification regarding the approach is of a quantitative-qualitative nature, as it articulates the quantitative and qualitative dimensions. The evidence indicates that discussions and reflections regarding Multiculturalism and the Brazilian Sign Language – LIBRAS – in library science courses at Federal and State universities are taking place in an incipient manner. In view of the above, it is clear that the librarian professional needs better preparation to interact and include deaf students and transgender students in the school environment.
