SUMMARY:

This research addresses Information Literacy (InfoLit) as an essential tool in the process of searching, appropriating and using information effectively and efficiently. In this sense, we intend to apply it in the context of the multilevel library of the Instituto Federal da Paraíba (IFPB), campus Cajazeiras, with a view to developing this competence in users of the Professor Ribamar da Silva Library (BPRS). Seeking answers to the question raised during the research: How can information literacy meet the needs of multilevel courses (high school/technical education, undergraduate and postgraduate) of student users of the IFPB library, campus Cajazeiras, we analyzed how the Information literacy contributes to student users of the multilevel library. From the understanding of the concepts and guidelines for the development of Information Literacy, based on the information needs and difficulties of multilevel library users of the IFPB Library, campus Cajazeiras for the search, appropriation and use of information, and relying on practices and Information Literacy programs that consider multilevel libraries and their specificities, we aim to propose an Information Literacy program applied to the IFPB´s Multilevel Library, campus Cajazeiras. The research is of an applied nature, using the descriptive method and exploratory analysis. The research approach is qualitative, conducted through action research. As a data collection instrument, a structured questionnaire will be used, with open and closed questions and systematically articulated in order to provide the researcher with guiding information for the actions proposed in the research. The understanding is that Information Literacy, developed from the implementation of an Information Competence program, will help users of the IFPB library, campus Cajazeiras, achieve autonomy and competence in the search, retrieval, critical analysis and application of information.
