RESUMO:

The library is recognized as an environment of impact of socialization, education and inclusion of people, therefore, of relevant social repercussion. This Case Study considers accessibility and assistive technologies in the environment University Library (UL) of the Federal University of Cariri (FUCA), as a policy of accessibility and inclusion of the public with disabilities (PwD), physical, mental, intellectual or sensory, which use or may use the library space. The problem is that the current conditions of accessibility and availability of assistive technology products and services from UL to PwD do not fully comply with current standards, especially the Brazilian Inclusion Law (BIL). The objective is to verify how the access and assistance to people with disabilities of physical, mental, intellectual or sensorial nature to the FUCA library, through the new Brazilian Inclusion Law (BIL). The study of this access will consider the physical and structural aspects, such as access to the building (parking, ramps, floors, lighting, ventilation, ventilation, seating, reception, among others) and aspects related to the conditions of encounter and breaking of barriers, such as access to bookshelves, toilets, visual and tactile indications (notices, reports, titles, specialized attendance) and Assistive Technology (AT) already present in the library or to be implemented, such as hardware, software, devices and accessories of AT that contribute or may favor the inclusion of persons with disabilities or limited situations in the access and use of library resources and spaces. From a case study, the qualitative and quantitative exploratory research will be used, having as reference references studies of authors and norms that address this theme. It will be used instruments formulated in written and online research involving the mentioned audiences and interviews with library users, including the library's technical servers. The result of the work, based on scientific research, will materialize in the form of a product, which is a site to be developed that will have as one of its objectives to subsidize public policies for accessibility and inclusion of people with disabilities.
