Skill is an English term that means skill. This term preceded by the word Soft has been widely used by scholars of human behavior to refer to the aptitudes of an individual taking into account emotional, social and mental aspects that, together, form the Soft Skills commonly known as behavioral skills or competences. transversal. For those who seek to stand out in the field of librarianship, continuous professional development is essential through “training, courses, studies and experiences” in order to complement their expertise and increase their value in the midst of the competitive job market. In this sense, the objective of this study is to understand in which aspects Soft Skills contribute to the construction of the professional career of librarians. In order to do so, a descriptive and exploratory case study with a qualitative-quantitative approach will be carried out, the unit of analysis being the Graduate Program in Librarianship of the Federal University of Cariri. Master's students regularly enrolled in the program and graduated for at least two years will be part of the research. Librarians who are not working in the area or who are on vacation and/or temporarily away from their position during the research period will be excluded. The research will have 3 phases: curricular analysis, self-applied questionnaire and interview with librarians who work in different areas. The answers obtained through the screening of CVs and questionnaires will be tabulated and analyzed using simple statistics while the answers from the interviews will be reduced and divided by categories. It is hoped that this research can bring up reflections on the role of the librarian and show ways to carry out actions that favor the career development of these professionals with regard to Soft Skills.
