RESUMO:

This work is based on the idea of presenting the mathematical knowledge present in the
format, operation and installation of the parabolic antennas, whose main study is the
parabola, whose rotation, around a fixed line, generates the parabolic surface also known
as paraboloid. For this, we will start with a historical approach on the conic sections.
After this chapter, we will see some basics about Flat Geometry that will be very useful
in the following chapters. In sequence we will present the quadratic functions whose
graph is a parabola and the reflection property of the parabola which justifies the antenna
format and finalize the work presenting the importance of mathematics in the operation
and installation of the parabolic antennas.
